Enterprise
award for VIP team
VIP Bin Cleaning, a leading
commercial and domestic bin cleaning franchise, based in Wymondham,
Norfolk, has won the coveted HSBC Award for Enterprise.
Managing Director Mark Harvey was presented with his trophy by HSBC's head of
franchising, Cathryn Hayes at the British Franchise Association's annual Franchisor
of the Year Awards, at the Savoy Hotel in London.
Receiving his award, Mr Harvey said: "This represents a seal of approval;
confirmation that what we are doing is right. It gives us the confidence
to move forward and open up new markets while maintaining those that are already
established.

“It is quite simply one of the best things that has ever happened to the
business.”
When VIP Bin Cleaning formed in 1997 Mr Harvey was a key member of the team and
has always recognised the potential of the brand.
After the company was purchased by Spice Holdings in 2000 he worked on other
projects before seizing the opportunity to buy the business outright in 2004.
Working initially to strengthen their relationship with existing franchisees,
the new board developed a five-year business plan that would not only expand
the UK network, but develop overseas operations as well.
VIP has invested heavily in the continued development of network support and
the improvements are already noticeable. While the UK redevelopment took place,
it became clear that the international growth would add significant value to
the VIP business. This was achieved by gaining new master licence holders and
working with them to recruit and support their franchisees.
A total of 18 new franchises have been established in Australia and South Africa
and a further four master licences have been awarded for Queensland, Victoria,
Botswana and New Zealand.
The UK structure is ready for further expansion, increasing last year’s
network turnover to a projected £4million plus for the current year.
Ms Hayes said: “The judges felt VIP Bin Cleaning clearly demonstrated an
enterprising approach in its drive for expansion both in the UK and overseas.”
She added: “Its commitment to ensuring that the existing franchisees understand
and support its actions means that the company’s growth plans have a firm
foundation.”
